Patricia Hilton’s Message
At the outset I wish to extend my warm greetings and good wishes to you and your families for the year – 2018.
The first half of our year of serving together has yielded significant results in helping the disadvantaged, the marginalized and the needy in society by bringing hope, solace and support through your dedicated work and humanitarian efforts. The values, ideals and noble principles of Inner Wheel have guided our footsteps in service and strengthened the noble organization in this remarkable journey.
I wish to congratulate the District Chairmen for their dynamic leadership, dedication and selfless service in guiding the District and the clubs to achievetheir goals and objectives for the year, so far. I am filled with immense pride and joy in seeing the great impact and transformational work being done by the Club Presidents and their Teamsin all the districts.
There is a saying that goes “We rise by lifting others” and you are shining examples of leaders, who are doing commendable work to serve our communities to help, enrich and empower the less fortunate members of society especially women and the girl child.
As I reflect onthe last six months of an extremely busy and rewarding year, I wish to recall some of our collective efforts and achievements which we are proud of:
We had four very successful Zonal Meets- “Footprints” with large attendances. The events were well organizedand meticulously planned by the organizing committees. Our gratitude to the host District Teams of 298, 303, 311 and 329 for their hospitality and hard work in making them memorable and meaningful. The service projects at Footprints by the host districts was appreciated by all.
We celebrated “Swarna Manjari”- the Golden Jubilee of the formation of International Inner Wheel at Varanasi. It brought together members from all over the country,including our neighbouring countries, Sri Lanka and Nepal for this landmark event. It was a pleasure to meet, deliberate, planservice projects and grow our network of friendship in Inner Wheel. My gratitude and appreciation to District 312 for hosting such a mega event with hard work and sincerity. Projects on Swalamban along with arrangements for all the delegates is indeed praiseworthy.
At the function we also honoured and felicitated our IIWP Dr. Kapila Gupta as the 50thGolden Jubilee President of IIW.
We also released a special Postal Cover to mark the historic Golden Jubilee of International Inner Wheel.
Clubs and members that had completed 50 years in Inner Wheel were also felicitated.The prestigious Margarette Golding Award by International Inner Wheel was conferred to two outstanding members -Mrs. Sita Rani Agarwal (District 301) and Mrs. Krishna Sagar (District 308) who have brought honour and distinction to our Association.
We successfully launched our signature project SUBALA. The response and enthusiasm of the clubs has been remarkable. I look forward to receiving reports of the good work being achieved in the five focus areas in the project we have outlined. (Maternal Health and Child Care- Menstrual Health and Hygiene -Safety and Protection – Cancer Detection and Care – Vocational Training).
In the last six months, we have welcomed many new clubs to our Inner Wheel family. I wish to thank you all for yourhard work in making this possible. I look forward to many more new clubs being formed in the months ahead.
Our membership has grown significantly and I am confident we will continue to maintain this upward progress by welcomingmore talented, resourceful, likeminded strong women who will join forces with us to do good work and service.
We were very lucky to have International Inner Wheel President Dr. Kapila Gupta with us at various functions as Chief guest. Her wonderful theme for the year ‘Leave a Lasting legacy continues to motivate and inspire us to reach higher echelons iof service.
I have enjoyed coming to your Districts during my official visits and for projects and other celebrations. I thank you for your warm welcome and hospitality in making each visit so memorable. It is extremely gratifying to see the remarkable work and service being undertaken in all avenues of service.
As we look ahead tothe remaining part of the year, let us be ever mindful that each one of you is working for a cause to build a beautiful and lasting legacy which we can be justifiably proud of. Your work, commitment and dedication is deeplyappreciated and will be remembered as your precious gift to the world.

About Patricia Hilton
Patricia Hilton was born in Agra, Uttar Pradesh and after her schooling attended St. Bede’s College, Shimla for her Teachers’ Training Certificate Course. She excelled in sport and academics, winning college colours in hockey, basketball and athletics. She received the prestigious “Best All Round Student” award for demonstrating excellence in leadership, character and sport. She also captained the women’s hockey team of Uttar Pradesh.
Patricia went on to pursue a career in education and completed a Master of Arts in History from Agra University and Bachelor of Education from M.D. University Rohtak. She taught at La Martiniere College for Girls, Lucknow, The Frank Anthony Public School, New Delhi and with the Ministry of Education, Oman.
Patricia is married to Rotarian Past District Governor David Hilton (RI District 3080). In 1985, she and her husband moved to Dehradun where they joined Hilton’s School and have spent the last 30+ years growing and developing the school into an institution of high repute.
Being proud citizens of Dehradun, Patricia and David have been engaged citizens who have always been actively involved in service and development programs in their local community and at the national and international level.

Patricia has been a member of the Association of Inner Wheel Clubs in India since 2001 and has had an incredible journey within the organization. She has held various posts at the club, district and national level and is honoured to be the 42nd President of the Association of Inner Wheel Clubs of India in 2017-18.
She has attended several Conventions, Triennials, South Asia Rallies at various places over the years.
Patricia believes in the power of women collaborating to bring about effective societal change and regards Inner Wheel as an important platform to achieve this purpose together with the friendships and opportunities to serve.
She has volunteered significant time and resources in projects of her club in Dehradun, nationally as well as internationally for Inner Wheel and other service organisations. She has hosted Rotary Group Study Exchange teams from Australia, USA and Argentina; organized Medical Camps for people in need; supported the Pulse Polio eradication and National Immunisation Day campaign and the Rotary India Literacy Mission TEACH Programme.
Patricia participated in a Friendship exchange with Rotarians in Sarasota, USA and attended the Rotary International Training Assembly at San Diego, USA in January, 2015. With her husband she has attended International Rotary Conventions and Zonal Training Institutes in India and abroad. She has also volunteered on Rotary Medicare Missions beyond borders to Malawi and Rwanda in 2015-16.
As a Major donor to the Rotary Foundation she also supports numerous charities and philanthropic projects.
She has immense faith in the power of Inner Wheel to bring about significant sustainable change and continues to contribute to and participate in these humanitarian programs in the service of the community.
Patricia and David have two children a daughter, Melissa, a chartered accountant and son Roger a sales and marketing executive with Colgate Palmolive, Australia.
