Born to illustrious social trend-setting parents at Satara, Maharashtra, Smita is a B.Com and
MBA from University of Pune and works at her family business. Married into the well-known
Pingale family from Pune to Dr Abhimanyu Pingale, they have a daughter, Dr Mallika, MDS and a
son,Hrushikesh,who is BBS from Australia.
Associated with Inner Wheel since 1995-96, Smita was elected District Chairman 2008-09. After
getting elected to the District Executive Committee, she served District 313 as ISO, Editor,
Treasurer, Secretary and Vice Chairman. At the Club level too she held various posts and
received the Best Club President Award and many other accolades.

As Club President, of IWC Central Calcutta, Mamta Gupta launched her Club's website.
She bought 13 kotthas land for “Apnalay” - a Home for the Aged whose foundation stone
was laid on 10th January 2007. Her dream was fulfilled when Apnalya was inaugurated by
IIWP Carol Young. She started a fund raising exhibition FQ for her club. She made Central
Calcutta the largest club in the District. As District Chairman she opened 4 new clubs,
formed the first New Gen club in her district and released a History book of the District.
She started the District E-Newsletter. During her tenure 67 sanitary napkin vending
machines & incinerators were installed. When she was District Chairman, the 14th
Triennial Conference and PAP Forum Meeting was hosted by District 329. Mamta has attended four Triennial
Conferences in Mumbai, Varanasi, Hyderabad & Kolkata, three South Asia Rallies in Sri Lanka, Mumbai & Malaysia,
the Inner Wheel Diamond Jubilee Celebration, the Golden Jubilee celebration of Inner Wheel Formation at Varanasi
and has been a voting delegate at the 16th & 17th IIW Convention at Copenhagen and Melbourne. Mamta has many
IW milestones to her credit; in 2014-15 she conceptualized and designed Special Postal Covers to commemorate the
75th death anniversary of Ms. Margarette Golding. Her painting got the highest votes and was auctioned at the 15th
IIW Convention, Istanbul.

Patricia joined Inner Wheel in 2001. Over the years, she has enjoyed being District Chairman (2011-12), Association Treasurer (2012-13), Association Vice President (2016-17) and Association President and National Representative (2017-18). Patricia credits Inner Wheel for the opportunities to be involved in meaningful work that creates positive impact. In her year as Association President, she organized four successful Zonal Meets-Footprints, introduced Project banks and launched Project SUBALA- for the welfare, safety and protection of women and girls. Under Patricia's leadership, over 1250 members from India, Srilanka and Nepal came together for a national event ‘Swarn Manjari in Varanasi to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of International Inner Wheel and released a postal cover to mark the occasion. During the year Association membership increased by over 2600 with an addition of 72 new clubs, India's largest ever delegation of over 250 members attended the 17th International IW Convention in Melbourne, Australia and India was successful in winning the bid to host the 18th IIW Convention at Jaipur, India in 2021.
PADMA PREETHA SUMANTH

A graduate in English Literature and Advertising, Padma Preetha Sumanth joined IWC of
Madras Cosmos in 2006. During her tenure as District Chairman, 4 new Clubs were
inaugurated and 12 schools were declared Happy Schools. Many unique programs and
joint projects were organized, notable among them being: a joint Club Sports Meet,
Rubella Awarathon Walk, Diwali celebrated with 810 orphan children, mega tree
planting in and around Chennai, a campaign on “Say No to Plastics” and distribution of
4400 cloth bags with the Inner Wheel logo to the general public and a seminar on
“Finance and Investment Made Easy” conducted for Inner Wheel members. Her hobbies
are gardening, travelling, cooking, reading and singing.

Saroj Katiyar has done her M A (Honors). As Club President she has won several awards. As
District Chairman, Saroj organized the North Zone Meet - “Foot Prints”, donated 20
sanitary napkin vending machines, 30 bicycles and 69 large umbrellas to vendors. She
published a quarterly 'Chairman's News Letter' and launched the website 'Superstree'.
During her tenure 55 schools were converted into Happy Schools. She also started 13 new
Inner Wheel clubs and organized several District Programs. She has attended many
Triennial Conferences and the International Convention in Melbourne, Australia.
PAP GOMATHI VISWANATHAN

Born to a pioneer in the hotel industry in Coimbatore, Gomathi did her schooling at St
Joseph's Convent. She is a graduate in Economics with a Post Graduate degree in Interior
Decoration. She joined Inner Wheel in 1990 and became Charter Secretary of the Inner
Wheel Club of Coimbatore North, District 320. She was elected District Editor in 1995 and
became District Chairman 2000-01. She launched the official website of District 320. She
was Association Treasurer in 2001-02, Association President in 2007-08 and IIW Editor in
2010-11. Gomathi has attended eight Triennial Conferences and has been a trainer for
various Inner Wheel training sessions. She has compiled the book 'Guidelines for
Association, Districts and Clubs' along with PAP Geetha Padmanaban. She is presently the Association CCC Chairman
Dr SURJIT KAUR
A doctor by profession, Surjit is running a Private Hospital at Kapurthala, Punjab, for the
past 12 years, after twenty five years of Punjab civil medical service. She joined Inner
Wheel in the year 1999. She was adjudged the Best IW member in the District. She
received the Best Club President award and also received the running trophy for the Best
Club during her tenure and an award for Best Medical Project. A cash prize for rainwater
harvesting at national level was given during her year as President. As a District
Chairman she formed two new clubs and increased the membership by one hundred.
She was the District CCC Chairman for two terms and a voting delegate for three IIW Conventions and three Triennial
Conferences. She has attended three South Asia Rallies, National PDC Meet and two Polio Summits. She is the
Secretary FOGSI, Treasurer Indian Menopause Society, Co-Editor Rotary Dist 3070 and presently President Indian
Medical Association, Kapurthala. Surjit is National Editor 2018-19 of Association of IW Clubs in India. Her interests
are social work, travelling writing and friendship.
